Micro Worm Culture

Rich in protein and easy to cultivate, micro worms provide a constant source of nutritious live food that helps support healthy growth and development during the critical early stages of life. The worms are easily harvested from the sides of the culture container and can be fed directly to fry, shrimp, and other small aquatic species. Simple to maintain and highly productive, micro worm cultures are a favorite among fish breeders and hobbyists.

How to start a Micro Worm Culture

Micro worms are easy to culture at home using instant mashed potatoes as a growing medium.

  1. Prepare a shallow container with a lid.

  2. Mix instant mashed potato flakes with warm water to create a thick, oatmeal-like consistency.

  3. Allow the mixture to cool completely.

  4. Add your starter micro worm culture and spread it evenly across the surface.

  5. Cover the container with a lid that has a few small air holes for ventilation.

  6. Keep the culture at room temperature (68–78°F / 20–26°C).

Within a few days, micro worms will begin climbing the sides of the container. They can be harvested by wiping them from the sides with a clean finger, cotton swab, or small brush and feeding them directly to fry, shrimp, and other small aquatic animals.

For best results, start a new culture every few weeks to maintain consistent production.

Weather Warning for Live Microworm Cultures

Microworm cultures are live organisms and can be harmed or killed by extreme temperatures during transit. Please do not place an order when temperatures in your area are excessively hot or cold.

We recommend waiting for moderate weather conditions before ordering. We cannot guarantee the viability of cultures exposed to extreme temperatures during shipping.
